James Doyle Campbell
James Doyle Campbell, 79, of Seven Lakes, passed Tuesday March 16, 2010, at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst. Mr. Campbell was born April 10, 1930 to the late Michael J. Campbell and Martha Fulk Campbell in Akron, OH.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday March 20, 2010. 11AM, at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Southern Pines with the Msgr. Frank J. Hendrick officiating. Rite of committal will be at a later date. Friends and family are invited to a reception following the service at the family’s home.
Mr. Campbell growing up in Akron played semi pro hockey for the Akron stars. He later served his country during the Korean War as a Naval Seabee. He retired with Roadway Express after thirty three years of service. Mr. Campbell based his life around his strong Christian faith, good work ethic, and moral family values. He was a kind man who could start a conversation with anyone he met no matter what the circumstance.
Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Pollock Campbell. Three sons, Michael Louis Campbell and wife Suzanne of Mooresville, NC,. James Douglas Campbell of Akron, OH,. And Mark Allan Campbell of Phoenix, AZ,. A daughter, Judith Campbell Kantorowski of Essex Junction, VT,. nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two nieces, four nephews.
Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by a sister Patricia Campbell Mazzagatti.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in memory of James Campbell to the Pope John Paul II Catholic School Building Fund at 320 North Ashe St. Southern Pines, NC 28387
