Sherry,
I’m sorry I didn’t have the opportunity to meet you. I was a friend and classmate of Fabe’s since 8th grade. He was a fine man. I spoke with him at length at our 46th class reunion and enjoyed seeing him. I’m so sorry for your loss.
Best Wishes,
Brenda

Sherry and Family,
Flashback to our school days. We had no idea of what adulthood would bring; the good times and the difficult times. Please know you are in my prayers and others are supporting you, as well.
February 7th, 2012 at 12:12 pm
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. I will always remember James(Fabe)Shaw. He was a great person and friend to all. Many fond memories during our teen years and High School.

Dearest John,
Nothing has sadden me more than you losing your father. You have many fond memories and they will bring you comfort in the difficult days ahead. You have a large extended family and many friends that love you very much and will do anything to help you through this difficult time. Find comfort in that- your dad and I love you more than we could express in words. I love you, Mom I had forgotten your dad’s nickname was “Fabe”. I think it was because he wore his hair like “Fabian” in high school.

Time flies! It seems like no time since we were all teenagers at Fox’s Drugstore after school, drinking soda’s and hanging out. Fabe would be joking with Charlie and Junior and the boys….
We were so young. I’m so sad to hear he’s gone.

Sherry, and family I really don’t know what to say I’m so shocked to hear about one of the best bosses I’ve ever had. Jim was so good to us girls in Customer Service at Chatham, and we all thought the world of him. He was a good man Sherry and I know you are going to miss him but he will not be sick anymore and I’m so sorry I didn’t know he was so sick. You, the boys, his sister and mama will be in our prayers. God Bless all of you.

I worked in the IT department and we gave him lots of work,or I guess he gave us the lots of work.
I remember the time I purchased a car from him that I needed and that he wanted to rid himself of.
He was a great guy and I know he will be missed.
He came across my mind a few weeks ago because I wanted to know where he lived.
The Family has my Sympathy.

I extend my condolences to each of you, Jim’s family and friends. While having had the privilege to work with Jim as the manager of my department, I often heard him speak fondly of his family.
May you recall pleasant memories of the time you each had with Jim, and may those memories become treasures as the days pass.

Jim was the “anchor to windward” for all the Chatham upholstery guys in the field. Reliable and straight, because he knew we needed to be that way with Chatham’s customers.
On top of that he was a friend and someone I looked forward to seeing every time I went to Carolina.
I am so glad that he and his wife Sherry had an opportunity to enjoy a deserved retirement even though it was too short. I will miss our exchanges.

Sherry and Family
I am sorry to hear of Jim’s passing.
I had known him since first grade
at Balfour School. I last saw him at
our high school reunion and enjoyed
a few moments visit. Where he mentioned
you and an accident that kept you from
being with him at the reunion. He loved
his retirement and playing golf. My
father and brother served in the army,
too. I will make a donation in his
memory to American Veterans.

I have known John for years and think the world of him. My heart goes out to John and all of his family. John has been there as a true friend through some of the hardest times of my life, and I know someone of his character does not happen by accident. A great person like John develops because of great family and friends that made him who he is. John is a great person no doubt because of his parents. I am saddened that I never got a chance to meet Jim, but I have no doubt that he is proud of the man his son has become. I sincerely wish all of you my deepest sympathy for your loss and hope that you find joy in remembering all of the good times and stories you will likely share over the coming days. God Bless.

As a Chatham rep in the Northeast, Jim was more than a dedicated, knowledgeable, wealth of information about Chatham but more importantly a friend. A good guy, who knew more about the entire workings of Chatham and more importantly willing to share this knowledge with the rookie.
Always a smile, usually with a smart aleck comments [always in jest]. I will miss his comments, sharp wit, emails, pink shirts, smelly cigars, and pool skills. I will miss my friend.

Sherry & family:
To simply say “I’m sorry” seems so inadequate. Jim could brighten the day better than anyone else. He and Rex were dear friends and now they can be together again and talk about all the good times at Chatham Manufacturing. Death is so hard but thankfully we have good memories to enjoy.
