Joan Patricia Hoban
Joan Patricia Hoban, 75, died Friday, February 5, 2010, surrounded by her family.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church by Rev. James M. Labosky.
She was born July 23, 1934, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late John and Mary Murphy. Joan attended Scranton Central High School and Lackawanna College. Joan was the most loving and devoted Wife, Mother, and Nana a family could ask for. Joan’s beautiful, loving spirit will live in our hearts forever.
Joan is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Paul Hoban, her three children, John Hoban of Edgewater, MD, Mauri Walter of Inman, SC, and Colleen Draper of Chapel Hill, NC, two grandchildren, Katie and Elizabeth Walter, and her brother Robert Murphy of Towanda, PA.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday at Boles Funeral Home in Pinehurst.

Dear Paul & family,
We are so very sorry for your loss. Joan was a sweet lady and we fondly remember all the good times we spent with her. She was so much fun to be with and we looked forward to any event that we would be seeing her at. She will be deeply missed.

Mr. Hoban, Mauri, Colleen and John:
Words cannot describe my sorrow at this time. Mrs. Hoban was not only a wonderful mother to her children, she was a wonderful mother to her children’s friends. I wished I had thanked her for the delicious “home cooked” meals I ate almost every sunday nite when Mauri came back to college from a weekend at home. I so enjoyed our “Girl’s Weekends” in Pinehurst each year-she was one of us-one of the girls! Her laugh and her smile will always be in my heart-how lucky I have been to have known her!

Dear Mauri,
We were so sad to hear about your mother. Please extend our sympathies to your dad, as well as Colleen and John. I wish that we were close enough to come to Pinehurst and be with you, Doug, Katie, and Lil but it’s just not possible. Dear Mauri and Family,
We are so saddened about the passing of your loving mother. I feel blessed to have had the chance to know her as she was a very special lady. She was such a warm and wonderful woman and made our trips to Pinehurst feel like home away from home. I will remember her lovely smile and the twinkle in her eyes when she would hang out with us and share stories. She had a beautiful soul.
I wish we could be with you now but please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Mauri and Family,
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your wonderful mother. When I think of her, I think of her loving and nurturing ways. She set quite a high bar, especially in our college days, for all the other moms – none could quite match those home cooked frozen meals that Mauri would bring back to school! Her wisdom, guidance, love and reassurance will be sorely missed.

Dear Uncle Paul, John, Mauri and Colleen
Kevin and I are deeply saddened at the loss of Aunt Joan. We so wish we could be there to offer our support. Please know that I am full of wonderful memories of the great times we shared as a family. I will treasure them always.
I am so happy that I got to share a dream with her before she had to leave us too soon. She was so happy to hear about our new addition to the family (baby Lauren). I trust she is telling my mom all about her and we will treasure her sentimental gifts to Lauren always.
She loved all of you so much!
