Obituary for Donald Reid Key, II
Donald “Reid” Key II, 31, of Whispering Pines passed away December 27, 2016 surrounded by family and friends. Reid was born in Pinehurst, North Carolina to the late Donald Reid Key and Darlene Parker Key on March 11, 1985.
He graduated from Union Pines High School in 2003, and then earned an Associate Degree in Automotive Technology from Sandhills Community College. Reid was employed as a Head Technician at Leith Auto Group in Aberdeen.
Reid and his family attend New Home Baptist Church, where he has served as a Deacon, and was currently serving as the Worship Director. Reid dedicated his life to The Lord and enjoyed worshiping Him through music and song.
One of his life’s passions was serving his community as a Lieutenant on Whispering Pines Fire Rescue Department. Reid obtained his North Carolina Firefighter I & II certification through the Office of the State Fire Marshall. In addition to the fire department, Reid served his community as a youth baseball and basketball coach. His other hobbies included playing the guitar, attending sporting events, and playing golf.
Reid was a wonderful son, brother, and friend; but above all, a dedicated and loving husband and father. Reid considered his greatest accomplishments in life to be his two children, and cherished the time he spent with his family.
Reid is preceded in death by his father, Donald Reid Key of Southern Pines; paternal grandparents, Judson and Fannie Key, of Carthage; and maternal grandfather, Norman Parker of Dunn.
He is survived by his wife Carrie Christopher Key, a son Jackson, and a daughter Kinsington, of the home; his mother Darlene Parker Key of Whispering Pines; his maternal grandmother, Alene Fipps, of Whispering Pines; a sister Jenna Key Gray, her husband Jordan, and a niece Emmeline of Raleigh; mother-in-law Linda Christopher of Southern Pines; father-in-law Lee Christopher of Vass; sister-in-law Elizabeth Branson of Whispering Pines; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and loving relatives and friends.
