Obituary for John Edward Wooddell

John Edward Wooddell, 91 of Southern Pines passed away on September 2, 2019 at Pinehurst Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on July 19, 1928 in Miami County, Ohio to the late Milton and Blanche Wooddell. John worked for General Motors in Michigan for over 38 years before retiring to Southern Pines. When he moved to North Carolina he worked at Pinehurst #4 for 24 ½ years. He loved working with his hands, building and crafting. He was always there for his son to pick him up whenever needed. He was a truly faithful member of Page Memorial United Methodist Church in Aberdeen.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Mae Barhorst and Alberta Groff; and one brother, Newell Wooddell.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Ruth Helen Wooddell; one son, John Allen Wooddell; also survived by nieces and nephews, including; Jacqueline Bergman, Dennis Barhorst, Cheryl Kirby, Patricia Watson and Bonnie Reckinger.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 2:00PM at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines with visitation following the service.

Memorial donations in John’s name may be made to Liberty Hospice 336 S. Main Street Raeford, NC 28376.

Services are entrusted to Boles Funeral Home of Southern Pines.
